What if Brolli Diamondback never died?
What if he got over himself, fought Tenshi and won?
Won back Gensokyo? Won back his life?
In an Alternate Gensokyo, at the peak of The Most Despair-Inducing Incident in the History of human/youkai-kind... Brolli cast aside his disgraceful title of "Colonel" and defeated Tenshi with - not power - but words. Words glimmering of hope, until he himself was as bright as a shining diamond in the rough; until even Tenshi herself relinquished, unable to bear the thought of extinguishing its light.
And so, the incident came to end as a new era of happiness, peace, and hope came to flourish. Brolli, together with Reimu Hakurei and his best friend Tenshi, brought an end to all wars, famine and strife as they strive for a Gensokyo where all humans and youkai can co-exist freely and peacefully. Sacrificing his beasts, Brolli coveted land with an unbreakable seal that would prevent the entering of any further gappies, putting an end to the Gappy Era at last and crushing the tragic cycle of death.
Brolli and Reisen were wed, with Tenshi the best (wo)man. They would spend the next 10 years of happiness raising their child - Reiko Inaba, Daughter of Diamondback - together.
This dream for an eternal paradise came true. But all dreams must end eventually. For Brolli still bears the name "Diamondback", and with it its blessings... and curses.
Yes, I knew yesterday was your birthday, Brolli. No, I was busy with homework. But here's to you and all your Gappy Glory!
No, I kid.
Here's your present: a saccharine what-if snapshot of a post-DitR AU where the Colonel got his happy ending!
(Plus, I had an idea for an OC daughter of the Colonel and Reisen for while now, so it all works out!)
Btw, I haven't seen all of DitR yet, so I look forward to the rest! Happy Birthday, big guy.
